As a Conservative observing modern-day America, there are many things to mourn. On one hand, we have a proud history, steeped in Christian values. America became the foremost political, economic, military, and spiritual force in the world. Yet America did not become great because we willed it to. No amount of hard work on our part could have created the perfect cirumcumstances that make this nation great. But because this nation was dedicated, from the beginning, as a nation that serves God, we have been blessed beyond expectation.
Yet, in today’s age, we also cannot help but to lament a country in decline. There are plenty of scapegoats for why America is falling: budget deficits, outsourcing, poor public schools, secularization, and etc. However, at the core, we are a country whose values have diverged from those of the Great Generation. As Americans, we no long strive to serve others and to leave the world a better place for our children. We have created a culture that is instead hedonistic and self-centered, and yet we wonder why so many ills are afflicting this country.
The Internet is a mirror that reflects the worst parts of this watered-down culture. When you look at the tone of content that is available on the Internet, and when you look at the comments that accompany it, you realize the Internet brings out the worst in people. Behind a shroud of anonymity, the restraints of social decorum are lifted, and the true nature of man is revealed. Mainstream websites espouse the “virtues” of atheism, adult-content, homosexuality, and various other liberal values. Perhaps along with public schools, the Internet may be one of the most powerful liberal indoctrination environments out there.
Ritely is a site that aims to combat the negative attitudes on the internet. We are a community built upon Conservative values. So regardless of your areas of interest, you should be able to find like-minded conservatives on our site, and you should be able to have open-hearted, deep, and interesting conversation. I understand that even among conservatives, there are different mindsets and beliefs, but I believe we can focus on the core values we believe in, and demonstrate a civility that seems so lacking on the rest of the internet. Ritely is a sanctuary from Internet immorality, a place where love of God and country are still values that are cherished. Ritely is a place for your spouse, your mother, your father, and God-willing, even your children.
I hope this gives you a good idea about what Ritely is about. The name Ritely is a play on words: we want to live our lives rightly. But we are also conservative, or right-leaning, in our political views. We also value the power of writing, not only as a transmitter of knowledge and scripture, but as a means of communication today: for affecting change, and for fellowship with other human beings.
I want to thank you for taking a look at our website. It is my hope that our community can demonstrate civility and respect, with genuine love and caring that will show others the enduring power of the values that we hold.
